Emotional Cartography: Mapping the Fabric of a Town in Solitude.

During the height of COVID lockdowns, standard navigation became irrelevant. Stripped of usual routines, daily exercise evolved into a quiet pilgrimage through my hometown, transforming a simple running route into a deep, meditative exploration of place. This project is a visual love letter born from those memorable times; it is a personal mapping of my home town captured through raw photography, hand-drawn observations, text fragments, and local textures recorded along my regular paths.
To translate this emotional geography into a tangible experience, the entire narrative is curated to fit inside a custom pizza box, a playful nod to the ultimate takeaway symbol of the lockdown era. Opening the box reveals a multi-layered journey: a sculptural, pop-up map of the route paired with a custom repeat textile pattern designed to represent the literal and metaphorical “fabric” of the town. It bridges the gap between physical place and personal memory, turning a period of isolation into a celebrated artifact of connection, local identity, and spatial storytelling.
