The Riot Grrrl Movement in the early 90’s was a milestone for me. It was a small revolution, a community and a safe space for females to come together and play music without judgement. It made playing music and learning instruments accessible, and looking back on it, it personally gave me the confidence to start a band and chase music as a dream. As a celebration of 30 years on from this underground movement I have marked this milestone with a 14 page Zine, depicting my personal journey of how Riot Grrrl inspired me and how I became a musician through its influence. Keeping in context with DIY ethics and how information was shared back in the early 90’s, it is inspired through lowfi design, with a mixture of punk typography, mixed media photo collage, hand printed ink with hand drawn lettering depicting my own personal journey and experiences.
